— Services for Max Omar Baker, 72, Topeka, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Parker-Price Mortuary in Topeka. Burial will be in Valley Falls Cemetery.

Mr. Baker died Wednesday, April 9, 2003, at Midland Hospice House in Topeka.

He was born Nov. 23, 1930, in Ozawkie, the son of Roy Lester and Alice Lee (Metzger) Baker. He graduated from Ozawkie High School. He lived in Valley Falls before moving to Topeka two years ago.

Mr. Baker served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a partner and manager of Roy Baker Quarries and owned and operated Independent Trucking Co.

He married Joan Marie Rehm. They later divorced and she died in 1994.

Survivors include two sons, Bret Roy, Topeka, and Jeffrey R., Longmont, Colo.; two daughters, Christine Ann Baker, Madison, Wis., and Patrice M. Baker, Lawrence; a sister, Phyllis L. Farmer, Topeka; a companion, Agnes L. Patterson, Topeka; and three grandchildren.

Friends may call after 1 p.m. today at the mortuary, where the family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. today.

The family suggests memorials to Midland Hospice House, 200 S.W. Frazier Circle, Topeka 66606-2800.
