Burned flag found in park

A passer-by found a handful of “Support our Troops” signs and a partially burned flag about 11 p.m. Saturday at “Dad” Perry Park, according to a police report.

Tanya Pinegar, who lives nearby in the 3900 block of West 10th Street, said she thought the flag was hers. She noticed it was missing Sunday.

“They took it off of the pole and left the pole lying there,” she said.

Pinegar’s yard sign also disappeared, along with signs from about six neighbors’ yards. She said the American Legion offered to donate free replacement signs.

Pinegar said it was hurtful and irritating that vandals would target people showing support for troops.

“We have no control over what the government decides to do, so go with it and support our guys,” she said.
