Art deco exhibit opens at London museum

“Art Deco 1910-1939” opened March 27 at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, featuring more than 300 works of paintings, sculpture, architecture, furniture, textiles, glass, metal, jewelry and more.

The exhibit traces the development of the style from its beginnings in Europe before World War I to its global popularity in the late 1930s.

After its presentation in London, the exhibit will travel to the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto (autumn 2003), the Museum of Fine Arts in San Francisco (spring 2004) and the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston (autumn 2004).

Grand Canyon institute begins 10th season

The Grand Canyon Field Institute, a nonprofit organization, is beginning its 10th season of providing single- and multiday educational outings at Grand Canyon National Park.

Adventures offered through November include family classes, women’s classes, photography, history classes and premium classes that include a llama trek and Colorado River float trip. Fees vary.

Write answer will win a bed-and-breakfast

If the thought of owning a Colorado bed-and-breakfast inn makes you wax poetic, then start writing and you could become an innkeeper.

Kami and Giles Kolakowski, owners of The Ice Palace Inn Bed and Breakfast in Leadville, Colo., for eight years, are sponsoring an essay contest to determine the inn’s new owners.

The owner candidate who best expresses why he or she would like to own The Ice Palace in 150 words or less, submitted with a $230 entry fee, will win the five-guest-room Victorian inn.

The contest runs through April 30.
