Fishing Report

(Latest update in parentheses)

CLINTON LAKE (4-3) — Water 54 degrees, 3.4 fee below normal pool. Walleye fair using crankbaits, such as rapala, rogues and rattletraps at night along riprap on dam. One thousand trout stocked into Lake Henry March 13th. Walleye are on the dam in spawning mode.

PERRY LAKE (4-4) — Water 51 degrees, 6.5 feet below normal. Channel catfish poor on stinky stuff in the shallows, shad guts or sides. White bass, up to 1.5 points, fair. Look for these guys chasing shad up and down the creek channels, spoons or twisters. Caught a few of these in the sauger nets Tuesday. They will be spawning shortly. Try up the river; fish won’t make it past Valley Falls unless we get some more water. White crappie poor on tube jigs and/or minnows. Fish are moving shallower to 12-15 feet of water. Some of these guys will be shallow on those warm days. Remember to turn in those tags for a hat or T-shirt. Five hundred 10-inch crappies were tagged. Bring the tag into the Park Office, fill out a simple report and get a hat or T-shirt. Some of these fish are really nice. Sauger are still up shallow.

DOUGLAS STATE LAKE (4-3) — Crappie fair using jigs in about 10-15 feet of water.

LEAVENWORTH STATE LAKE (4-3) — Largemouth bass fair. Crawdad crankbaits and plastic worms have produced some fish. Walleye should be in spawning mode.

LONE STAR LAKE (4-3) — Largemouth bass good on crankbaits and plastic worms. Wiper fair using shad, imitation lures, such as rattletraps.

LAKE SHAWNEE (4-3) — Rainbow trout fair on small rooster tails, roadrunners and powerbait. Wiper fair on jigs and spoons over structure in 15-20 feet of water.
