Scheer services

Services for Margaret B. Scheer, 93, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Pinecrest Memorial Park in Little Rock, Ark.

Mrs. Scheer died Wednesday, April 2, 2003, at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor.

She was born Aug. 26, 1909, in Puerto Rico, the daughter of George B. and Margaret T. (Hill) Benedict. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from University of Cincinnati and her doctorate in genetics from the University of Wisconsin in 1929.

Mrs. Scheer was a professor at Philander Smith University in Little Rock. She was also a registered medical technologist. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and Phi Beta Kappa.

She married Kenneth Siler. They later divorced. She married Reinhard H. Scheer. He died in 1974.

Survivors include two daughters, Margaret Jordan, Raleigh, N.C., and Catherine Swan, Riverton, Wyo.; a son, Andrew Siler, Lawrence; 10 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

A grandchild died earlier.

The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

The family suggests memorials to the church, sent in care of the mortuary.
