Barbara G. Dixon Cole

Mrs. Cole died Friday, April 4, 2003, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She was born Feb. 11, 1920, near Severy, the eldest child of G.G. and Gertrude (Blevins) Dixon. She graduated from Severy High School in 1938.

Mrs. Cole worked at the local telephone company after high school. She later held various positions in the insurance industry for 25 years.

She married Robert G. Cole on June 4, 1939, in Hutchinson. He died March 3, 1997.

Survivors include two daughters, Nancy L. Clendening, Overland Park, and Sharon L. Fromong, Anchor Point, Alaska; four sons, Robert L. Cole, Wamego, Brian D. Cole, Hutchinson, Steven M. Cole, Shelton, Wash., and David T. Cole, Fairburn, S.D.; three brothers, Charles Dixon, Forked River, N.J., Gail Dixon, Oklahoma City, and William Dixon, Mechanicsville, Va.; three sisters, Denzel Mason, Emporia, Betty Jones and Carole Neal, both of Wichita; fourteen grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at the mortuary.

The family suggests memorials to the Palliative Care Unit at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, sent in care of the mortuary.
