Hicklin

Wallace and Mary Ann Hicklin, Lawrence, plan to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with family.

Wallace Hicklin and Mary Ann Pappas were married March 27, 1953. They met while attending Kansas University.

Mary Ann is an interior designer and homemaker. Wallace is a veteran of World War II. He served in the Marine Corps. He was an engineer for Hercules Aero Space for 35 years.

The couple’s children are Milissa Hicklin, Lawrence; Miriam and Richard Lietz, Dublin, Calif.; Merrill and Jay Befort, Topeka; and Ty and Cheryl Hicklin, Lawrence. They have six grandchildren.

Sherman

Don and Ethel Sherman, Lawrence, recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

Don Sherman and Ethel Briggs were married April 4, 1953, in Barnsdall, Okla.

Don is a U.S. veteran and is retired from Williams Natural Gas Co. after 35 years of service. Ethel is a homemaker.

The couple’s children are Larry and Luanne Fisher, St. John; Tom and Jan Lance, Hutchinson; Kim and Teri Gouge, Lawrence; and Kristi Sherman, Minneapolis, Minn. They have six grandchildren.

The couple’s daughters plan a family dinner today at Paisano’s Ristorante to celebrate the anniversary.

Taylor

Robert and GeorgeAnn Taylor, DeSoto, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. today at Eudora City Hall.

Robert Taylor and GeorgeAnn Winslow were married April 6, 1953.

Robert served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked 35 years for the Union Pacific Railroad.

GeorgeAnn worked 15 years for TG&Y Stores Co. and later retired from the Internal Revenue Service as a tax examiner.

Their children are John and Kay Taylor, Clearview City; Sarita and Mark Owens, Garland, Texas; Lelani Taylor, DeSoto; Stuart and Linda Taylor, Eudora; and Alexanna Keller, Guntersville, Ala. They also have 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Moore

Dennis and Dorothy Moore, McLouth, will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. April 13 at the McLouth School cafeteria. They also will be renewing their vows.

Dennis Moore and Dorothy Chinn were married April 14, 1978, in Topeka.

Dennis worked for Comfort Inn in Platte City, Mo. He retired in 1998 from Ashland Chemical. Dorothy was an independent contractor with Home Interiors. She also worked part time in McLouth schools.

The couple’s children are Dennis Moore, Doug Moore, Dirk Moore, Shelia Root and Tracy Root, all of Topeka; David Moore, Belton, Texas; Kitty Ray, Sedalia, Mo.; and Tim Root, Meriden. They also have 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The couple request no gifts.

Rothberger

Lem and Mary Rothberger, Lawrence, recently celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary.

They were married March 31, 1931, in Lawrence. They have been active members of the Eagles Lodge No. 309 for many years and are past presidents of the organization.

The couple has one daughter, two grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
