Frank D. Schirmer

Services for Frank D. Schirmer, 80, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel in Topeka. Entombment will follow in Memorial Park Mausoleum, Topeka.

Mr. Schirmer died Saturday, March 29, 2003, at a Topeka hospice.

He was born March 27, 1923, in Richland, the son of John George and Ora Virginia (Bryson) Schirmer. He grew up in the Overbrook area, where he was a farmer, and moved to the Lawrence/Big Springs area in 1980.

Mr. Schirmer worked at Clinton State Park from 1975 until his retirement in 1994 as a maintenance supervisor.

He married Betty Jean Warren on Feb. 14, 1946, in Overbrook. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include two daughters, Meri Kay Finley, Bonner Springs, and Karen Sue Berroth, Topeka; two sons, Dana Dean and Michael Dee, both of Berryton; four sisters, Georgia Anderson, Alice Trout and Darlene Ostrander, all of Overbrook, and Olive Taylor, Topeka; two half-brothers, John and Jim, both of Overbrook; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. today at the funeral chapel, where family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today.
