She was born Nov. 3, 1908, in Buffalo, Ky., the daughter of James L. and Lula (Shipp) Lamkin. She graduated from the Wesley Hospital School of Nursing in Wichita. She then lived in Wellington for more than 50 years before moving to Lawrence in 1995.

Mrs. Shaw was a registered nurse at St. Luke’s Hospital in Wellington. She also worked at Hatcher Hospital and was the school nurse for Wellington Public Schools for 17 years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Wellington for 66 years. She was also a member of Wellington Area Teachers Assn., Cary Circle and Delta Kappa Gamma.

She married Edward J. Shaw on Nov. 16, 1935. He died May 6, 1986.

Survivors include a daughter, Susanne Shaw, Lawrence, and several nieces and nephews.

The family suggests memorials to the Alma M. Shaw Memorial Fund at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor, sent in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.
