Kansas golf to conduct Invitational

Kansas University’s men’s golf team will play host to 13 other teams in the KU Invitational today and Tuesday at Alvamar Golf Course.

Competitors will play 36 holes today and 18 on Tuesday.

“I think this year’s field is an exceptional one,” KU coach Ross Randall said. “It includes teams from the Big 12 Conference as well as teams from the NCAA’s District 5 allocation. It will let most teams know what they will face later in the spring.”

Kansas won the 2000 tourney and officially is the defending champion because the meet wasn’t held last year.

The other teams entered are Baylor, Drake, Illinois State, Iowa State, Missouri, UMKC, Nebraska, North Texas, Northern Iowa, Notre Dame, Oral Roberts, Southwest Missouri State and Wichita State.
