The week: Bhakta was second overall at the Millard South Invitational last Friday in Omaha, Neb., covering the 5K course in 16:25. His time also set a new Firebird record, breaking Justin White’s 2001 mark by three seconds.

Comment: “He’s just in incredible shape right now,” FSHS coach Steve Heffernan said. “In both races, his last mile has been his fastest mile. We’ll work on getting him started a little faster, maybe he’ll win some races.”
