Wheeler services

Memorial services for Donald Eugene Wheeler, 85, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Episcopal Church. A private burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Topeka.

Mr. Wheeler died Sunday, Sept. 15, 2002, at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor.

He was born Nov. 25, 1916, in Seneca, the son of Fred Owen and Alice Ella (Latimer) Wheeler. He grew up in the Seneca area and attended Kansas State University.

Mr. Wheeler owned and operated Lawrence Optical from 1958 to 1982. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church.

He married Dorothy Glenn on June 3, 1941, in Topeka. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a son, Richard Maurice, Naperville, Ill.; a daughter, Nancy Ruth Schmidt, Pueblo West, Colo.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Family will receive friends Thursday at a reception in the parish hall of the church after the service.

The family suggests memorials to the church, sent in care of the funeral home.
