He was born March 15, 1946, in Kansas City, Kan., the son of Claude O. and Mabel A. (Leathers) Mather. He moved to Lawrence in 1982 from Wyandotte County.

Mr. Mather was the owner of Quality Tow Service, Lawrence. He had owned TIRE Co. from 1987 to 1994 in Lawrence. Previously, he had worked for Douglas County Public Works Department.

He married Sue Ellen Spink in November 1965. They later divorced. He married Robin G. Scott on April 25, 1980, in Miami, Okla. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a daughter, Amanda S. McCann, Lawrence; two sons, Robert L., Prattville, Ala., and Kieth M., Basehor; his mother, Mabel Mather, Kansas City, Kan.; two brothers, Michael D., Shawnee, and Russell K., Lansing; two sisters, M. Arlyne McGaugh, Lawrence, and Claudia J. Goldberg, Lake Elsinore, Calif.; and 10 grandchildren.

A daughter, Shiela K. Lisle, died May 9, 2000.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary.

The family suggests memorials to the charity of the donor’s choice, sent in care of the mortuary.
