Security tight for Chiefs, Rams home openers this weekend
Security will remain tight at Arrowhead Stadium and the Edward Jones Dome on Sunday for the Kansas City Chiefs’ and St. Louis Rams’ home openers.
In St. Louis, the Edward Jones Dome’s doors will open 90 minutes before the Rams play the New York Giants. Fans should arrive as early as possible to avoid congestion, said Bruce Sommer, director of the America’s Center convention complex that includes the dome.
The Chiefs have retained all additional security measures put in after the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, general manager Carl Peterson said in a news release.
“I want to assure our fans who attend our games that their security is still a priority,” he said. “We appreciate your patience. Stop your tailgating a little earlier, put out your fires and come in and get ready to support the Chiefs.”
Fans attending Sunday’s game against Jacksonville will not be allowed to bring in large purses or backpacks, but may bring in fanny packs, which must be taken off for inspection, and diaper bags.
Binoculars and cases also will be allowed, as will still cameras and cases.
