Kansas University student Nicholas Potter, Lawrence, joined the KU Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps this fall. Cadet Potter is the son of John F. and Mary A. Potter. The ROTC program grants Potter the opportunity to learn tactics, become weapons qualified, develop leadership skills and participate in extracurricular activities such as color guard, drill team and ranger challenge.

Eric Hayes has graduated from the Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps National Advanced Leadership Camp at Fort Lewis in Tacoma, Wash.

The camp provides training and evaluation for cadets in camp life, administration and logistical support.

Although continued military training and leadership development are included in the curriculum, the primary focus at camp is to evaluate each cadet’s officer potential. The cadet command assesses each cadet’s performance and progress in officer traits, qualities and professionalism while at camp.

He is the son of Linda Hayes, Blue Springs, Mo., and Craig Hayes, Tonganoxie.
