Be safe

My cousin, John Hart, was an out-of-towner conducting a seminar in Tower Two on Sept. 11. He called his wife to tell her he was safely out of the building, but he went back inside to help people get out. He was killed when it collapsed. His wallet and part of his body were found just before the search efforts ceased. I could not bring myself to ask which part of him was found. His family, unlike others, have something to bury. He leaves behind his wife, two adopted children, and two biological children. The attack is personal for me since a member of my family was murdered by terrorists evil, myopic religious fanatics. Every time I hear an airplane, I look to the skies and say, “Be safe.” It has become a ritual. Every time I hear an airplane I think of the evil that MEN perpetrate in this world in the name of God and I am sickened.
