Leak wreaks havoc with rural water use

Residents in rural water district No. 4 may have been without water Sunday as a leak in the system was being traced and repaired.

Areas affected included rural Eudora and Baldwin as well as areas south of Lawrence, said Phyllis Stone, water district clerk .

The problem was discovered about 1 p.m. Sunday when some residents discovered they had no water. Officials found the leak late Sunday afternoon and hoped to have service restored to everyone by 9 p.m. Sunday, Stone said.

Stone had no information about how many residents may have been affected.
