Kansas soccer rallies past MSU

? Trailing by a goal on the road, Kansas University’s soccer team rallied for a 2-1 victory Sunday at the Mississippi State Soccer Field.

After falling behind 1-0 on a goal by the Bulldogs’ Heather Ammann in the 31st minute, the Jayhawks (2-1-1) tied the game on Rachel Gilfillan’s unassisted goal, which ricocheted through the MSU goalkeeper’s legs and off the post before tricking in during the 67th minute.

Then in the 74th minute, KU’s Brianna Valento scored the game-winning goal from point-blank range after receiving Carmel Kaplinger’s pass across the goal line.

Caroline Smith led the Jayhawks with six shots on goal.

Kansas goalkeeper Meghan Miller made six saves for the victory.

KU will face Arkansas at 7 p.m. Friday in Fayetteville, Ark.
