Milwaukee ? An animal-rights group wants the Milwaukee Brewers to expand their traditional wiener race by adding a vegetarian sausage.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals asked the Brewers to add a soy sausage to the bratwurst, hot dog, Polish sausage and Italian sausage that compete in the race during games.

The sausage race features four people dressed in costumes running a race on the warning track between the 6th and 7th innings.

On Friday, Brewers spokesman Jon Greenberg said the team has no plans to bring in another sausage.

“Our response to that is, while we certainly respect their viewpoint … we consider the sausage race a tradition here that we don’t really care to change in any way.”
