St. John to discuss misconduct policies
St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 1234 Ky., will present the Archdiocesan Policy on Sexual Misconduct from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Sunday at the parish hall.
Parish staff and volunteers working with children under the age of 18 will have an opportunity to sign an agreement to be in compliance with the policy.
St. John Rummage House is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today. Baby and toddler clothes and necessary household items are available at bargain prices. Proceeds benefit parish and community services.
Corpus Christi to have breakfasts after masses
The Knights of Columbus will offer a breakfast after the Sept. 15 masses at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 6001 W. 15th St.
Corpus Christi will have an Italian Festival on Sept. 20.
Unity Church to celebrate Jewish holidays
Gerald Trimble will be guest musician Sunday at Unity Church, 900 Madeline Lane. There will also be a Jewish Holy Day service honoring Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur at 9: 30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Trina Schartz will provide sign language interpretation at the 11 a.m. service.
Mustard Seed to launch Children’s Church series
Children’s Church will begin the fall quarter with “Heaven’s Hall of Fame” at the 10 a.m. service Sunday at Mustard Seed Christian Fellowship, 700 Wakarusa Drive.
“Sisters” will meet at 10 a.m. Sept. 14 for fun and fellowship. This month Bunko is planned. Bring a snack to share and an item to donate to the food room. Child care will be provided.
The quarterly leadership meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 14.
Calvary Temple to honor grandparents at service
Calvary Temple Assembly of God, 606 W. 29th St. Terrace, will honor grandparents at the 10:30 a.m. service Sunday. Bringing grandchildren with you may qualify you for a special gift.
Women’s Ministries will meet 7 p.m. Tuesday at 2908 Belle Haven.
First United Methodist looks for new members
First United Methodist Church, 946 Vt., will have an Inquirer’s class for those interested in becoming a member at 6 p.m. Sunday in room 203.
New small groups are forming for fall. “Morsels of Veggie-Tales” is from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday in the Children’s Center. This four-week, intergenerational class is about learning more about God and the church.
Lawrence Unitarian plans celebration
Lawrence Unitarian Fellowship, 1263 N. 1100 Road, will have its first spiritual celebration of the new season from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Sunday.

Heartland Community to start spiritual series
“Show Me The Way” is the title of a six-week series starting with the 11 a.m. service Sunday at Heartland Community Church, 619 Vt.
The series explores the spiritual reasons behind the war on terrorism and the conflict between good and evil in the world. The message Sunday is “Who’s Your Enemy?”
West Side Presbyterian offers class for members

The Rev. Jay Gideon, interim pastor, will be serving out an unexpired term on Presbytery’s committee on ministry.
The fall congregational meeting will be preceded by a potluck dinner on Sept. 22 in Fellowship Hall. This will kick off the Stewardship 2002 Campaign.
First Baptist reverend to begin series
The Rev. Marcus W. McFaul will begin on Sunday a series of sermons from the Ten Commandments on Sunday at First Baptist Church, 1330 Kasold Drive. The series is called “Hangin Ten … Around Our Hearts,” and installment one is titled “God, gods and Idols.”
Following the noon service, McFaul will be recognized for his fifth anniversary with the church.
The Welcome Back Luncheon for students will be served in the Roger Williams Room to all returning college students following the second service.
Each Wednesday at 7 p.m. during the church’s fall Koinoina programming, the schedule of study choices will be “French for Beginners,” “Spiritual Gifts Seminar” and “Parenting in the Pew.”
A weight loss support group begins Sept. 18.
Lawrence Free Methodist fair set for Sunday
Lawrence Free Methodist Church, 3001 Lawrence Ave., will be having a Fall Ministries Fair at 10 a.m.-10:30 a.m. and noon-12:30 p.m. Sunday. The fair will introduce people to the ministries that the church will offer this fall.
Central United Methodist to offer Bible study
Central United Methodist Church, 1501 Mass., will offer “Manna for the Soul,” a Bible study beginning Tuesday. Also being offered is “Loving the Jesus Way,” which meets at 6 p.m. Sunday.

Sunday has been designated Rally Sunday at Ives Chapel United Methodist Church, 1018 Miami. Sunday School will begin at 9:45 a.m.
The Sunday School Department is planning to offer a junior/senior high Sunday school class along with the elementary and adult classes.
Good Shepherd begins education classes
Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 2211 Inverness Drive, is beginning a new year of Christian education for adults and children.
Sunday School Rally Day will be 9 a.m. Sunday in the Fellowship Hall.
Classes for adults and children will be held at 9:30 a.m.
Good News Kids will be held during services for preschool through grade school age children.
Confirmation class is at 7 p.m. Wednesday evenings at the church.
