Daniel and Sheila Lynch, rural Eudora, announce the birth of their son, Cael Tobin Lynch, July 26, 2002, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center, Merriam. He has two brothers, Colton, 11, and Caden, 7, and a sister, Cambry, 6. Grandparents are Janet and Larry Schaake, Lawrence, and Frank and Gertrude Lynch, Florida.

Erica and Eric Spurling, Lawrence, announce the birth of their daughter, Emily Elizabeth Spurling, Aug. 9, 2002, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center. Emily has two brothers, Adam and Shawn.

Grandparents are Jo and Don Dalquest, Lawrence, and Merl and Karla Spurling, Grantville. Great-grandmothers are Mildred Dalquest and Lois Granowski, both of Lawrence.

Rochelle Tramp and Todd Bradford, Lecompton, announce the birth of their son, Drew Thomas Bradford, Aug. 25, 2002, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center. He has a brother, Ethan Paul Bradford, 2.

Grandparents are Emma Mae Tramp, Phillipsburg, and B.T. and Natalie Bradford, Topeka. Great-grandmother is Jeanette Bradford, Topeka.

Steve and Tina Shade, Kansas City, Mo., announce the birth of their daughter, Adele Rose Shade, Aug. 25, 2002, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center.

Grandparents are Doug and Rudy Shade, Lawrence; Dorothy Bogaars, Singapore, and the late George Edwin Bogaars.

Ed and Stacy Stringer Walters, Lawrence, announce the birth of their son, Cooper Patrick Walters, Aug. 21, 2002, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center.

Grandparents are Bob and Barbara Walters, Eudora; Linda and Bill Carswell, Denver; Jim Stringer, Austin, Tex., and Terri Stringer, Lawrence. Great-grandparents are LaWanda Stringer, Overland Park; Clyde and Pauline Bysom, Lawrence, and Ruth and Marvin Lawrence, Chanute.

Melissa and Michelle Colgan, Lawrence, participated in several American Junior Simmental Assn. events. Melissa serves as president of the Kansas Junior Simmental Assn. and trustee for the North Central Region. Michelle is secretary of the Kansas Junior Simmental Assn.

They traveled in June to Minot, N.D., for the North Central Regional Classic.

Melissa placed in the following Senior Division events: fifth overall Individual, third in Sire Summary, first in Herdsman Quiz, 10th in Sales Talk and sixth in Showmanship. Melissa also was a member of the first-place Senior Beef Bowl Team and second-place Overall Team.

Michelle placed in the following Junior Division events: fourth Overall Individual, second Sire Summary, fourth Herdsman Quiz, fourth Judging Contest, first Public Speaking, fifth Sales Talk and 10th Showmanship.

Michelle also was a member of the first-place Junior Beef Bowl Team and first-place Overall Team.

They traveled in July to Bowling Green, Ky., for the National Classic.

Michelle placed in the following Junior Division events: seventh Showmanship, ninth Sire Summary Quiz, second Herdsman Quiz, fifth Public Speaking, and seventh Overall Individual.

Michelle also was a member of the first-place Overall Team, first-place Sire Summary Team, first-place Herdsman Quiz Team, and second-place Beef Bowl Team.

Melissa placed in the following Senior Division events: fourth Sire Summary Quiz, third Herdsman Quiz, 15th Sales Talk, and 12th Overall Individual.

Melissa also was a member of the first-place Beef Bowl Team and first-place Sire Summary Quiz Team.

The Lawrence High School Class of 1972 will have its 30th Reunion Oct. 4-Oct. 5. The planning committee is still seeking to contact about 90 members of the class.
