A Kansas City family foundation has donated $3 million toward expansion at Kansas University’s Edwards Campus, KU officials announced.

The Victor and Helen Regnier Charitable Foundation’s gift will help build an $18 million, 55,000-square-foot building at the Overland Park site.

Victor Regnier was a Johnson County homebuilder and developer. He died in 2000; Helen Regnier lives in Johnson County.

Plans call for the new building, scheduled for completion in 2004, to be named Victor and Helen Regnier Hall.

KU officials said the new building was part of a $70 million expansion plan on campus.
