Steven Ray Steck
Alma ? He was born May 9, 1958, in Kansas City, Kan., the son of William E. and Shelba (Collyge) Steck. His parents died when he was young, and he was adopted and raised by his paternal grandparents, William J. and Margaret M. Steck.
He attended school in McFarland and graduated in 1976 from Wabaunsee High School, Alma.
Mr. Steck was a machinist for Cutler Repaving Inc., Lawrence. He coached girls softball for several years, and he was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Alma.
He married Sandy Casey on Feb. 8, 1986, in Manhattan. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include two daughters, Stephanie Steck and Kristi Steck, both of the home; a sister, Jeanie Trudo, Wamego; and a brother, Allen, South Haven, Miss.
Friends may call after 1 p.m. Friday at R.J. Evans-Gentry Funeral Home, Alma, where the family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday. A rosary will be recited at 8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials to the Steve Steck Memorial Fund for the education of his daughters, sent in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 245, Alma 66401.
