Parents need to enforce guidelines about candy

The Medical Center at the University of Texas Southwestern says not to fret about your children’s love for candy as long as you provide guidelines for their consumption.

After trick-or-treating, let your children choose favorites, and then divvy up the rest into snack bags to save for later, recommended Cindy Cunningham, assistant professor of clinical nutrition at the University of Texas Allied Health Sciences School.

“It’s OK for children to have candy, just in moderation,” she reminded us.

Also, it never hurts to set a neighborhood example by handing out raisins or granola bars when those little goblins come to the door.
