Lorene Luella Higgins

Mrs. Higgins died Oct. 27, 2002, at Olathe Medical Center.

She was born Dec. 28, 1907, in Prowers, Colo., the daughter of Clifton LeRoy and Eura Luella (Myers) Horn. She spent her childhood in Gardner and graduated from Gardner High School. After living in several other cities, she returned to Gardner in 1938.

Mrs. Higgins was a homemaker. She worked at Horn’s Grocery Store during World War II. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Gardner, where she served as a deacon and in Presbyterian Women’s Circles. She was also a member of Johnson County Republican Women’s Club and Air Streamers Club.

She married Herman F. Higgins on June 10, 1926, in Gardner. He died Feb. 26, 1990.

Survivors include a daughter, Pat Rankin, Gardner; two sisters, Barbara Brown and Carolyn Donovan, Kansas City, Mo.; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to service time Thursday at the church.
