Walter H. Hurley

Memorial services for Walter H. Hurley, 92, Lawrence, will be at a later date in Deerfield Beach, Fla.

Mr. Hurley died Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2002, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born April 30, 1910, in Hoboken, N.J., the son of David and Celeste (Bland) Hurley. He lived in Jersey City, N.J., for many years before retiring and moving to Deerfield Beach. He and his wife moved to Lawrence in September.

Mr. Hurley retired from the Housing Authority in Jersey City after 17 years of service. He had previously worked for 29 years at Whitlock Cordage Co. in Jersey City.

He married Elizabeth Powers on Oct. 30, 1943, in Jersey City. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include three daughters, Celeste Leonardi, Lawrence, June Nepsky, Telluride, Colo., and Joan Clark, Loveland, Colo.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to the charity of the donor’s choice, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
