Curtis Lee DeVore

He was born Feb. 27, 1918, in Berryville, Ark., the son of Harvey Ernest and Alma (Thomas) DeVore. His family moved to Anderson County, where he grew up and attended Garnett High School.

He served in the United States Army as a radio specialist in the 1940s, then worked off and on for Hercules Powder Company at the Sunflower Ordnance Depot in DeSoto. A licensed pilot, Mr. DeVore was a farmer, stockman and member of the Chippewa Good Sams Camping Club.

He married Lenore “Lee” Robinson on Dec. 10, 1940, in Covington, Ky. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include three daughters, Jacqueline DeVore Tulumello, Northfield, Minn., Sherril Unruh, Ottawa, Kathy Peimann, Ottawa; one brother, Harry A., Clewiston, Fla.; and two grandchildren.

Friends may call after 11 a.m. today at the Lamb-Roberts-Heise Funeral Home , Ottawa, where family will greet them from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. today.
