LHS 1st, FSHS 3rd at gymnastics meet

Lee's Summit, Mo. The Lawrence High gymnastics team won the Lee's Summit quadrangular on Wednesday, edging host Lee's Summit, while Free State finished third.

LHS senior Molly Hoss won the beam and placed second in the all-around. Freshman Meredith West was fifth, while sophomore Nicole Jones was sixth.

Free State junior Lacey Baxter was third in the all-around.

South to meet West for city football title

Undefeated South (7-0) can wrap up the mythical city junior high football championship today by knocking off West (1-4).

Kickoff will be 3:50 p.m. at Ralph Wedd Field on the SJHS campus.

South took a giant step toward winning the city title by spilling previously unbeaten Southwest last Thursday at Haskell Stadium.

Central, the other city junior high, is not fielding a ninth-grade football team this fall due to a lack of numbers.
