She was born Dec. 4, 1911, in Little Rock, Ark., the daughter of Homer Dillon and Eula (Hewitt) Ream. She graduated in 1932 from The Ohio State University and was a nursery school teacher. She later was a home demonstration agent in Mountain Home, Ark.
Mrs. Chapin moved in 1962 to Wellington and in 1988 to Lawrence, where she was a member of First Christian Church.
She married Edwin Donald Chapin on Thanksgiving Day 1937 in Little Rock. He died March 6, 1996.
Survivors include a son, Chris Chapin, Lawrence; two daughters, Linda Overton, Lawrence, and Donna Schlaman, Trenton, Mo.; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to Heifer International. They may be sent in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
