KU swimmers fourth at Big 12 Relays

? Kansas University’s swimming and diving team placed fourth at the Big 12 Relays on Friday.

Texas won the all-day, 16-relay event with 120 points. Texas A&M was second with 71 and was followed by Missouri (68) and Kansas (60).

Kansas’ Jackie Krueger, Kristen Johnson and Miranda Isaac teamed for a first-place finish in the 300-yard breaststroke relay. KU also picked up two second-place finishes, in the 400- and 800-yard freestyle relays. Amy Gruber, Krueger, Aly Colver and Ashley Dower were the 400 relay team, and Krueger, Gruber, Gina Gnatzig and Colver were the 800 team.

“We swam the 400 and 800 freestyle relay stroke for stroke with Texas, who was ranked in the top eight last year in both of those relays,” KU coach Clark Campbell said. “We competed with them and that means we could ultimately end up with times good enough for the NCAA Championships.”
