She was born Jan. 7, 1916, in Sedalia, Mo., the daughter of John and Flossie (Medley) Weddle. She had lived in San Diego, the Kansas City area and Butler, Mo.

Mrs. Beard was a homemaker. She was a longtime member of Assembly of God Church at Central Assembly in Kansas City, Mo., and First Assembly of God in San Diego. She also helped form the Jolly 60s, a seniors group, in San Diego.

She married Thurman Beard in 1935. They were married 64 years. He died earlier.

Survivors include a son, Sonny Beard, San Diego; two daughters, Sharon Stice, Lawrence, and Wanda Bethea, Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.; a sister, Juanita Ammann, Monticello, Ill.; and six grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to Douglas County Hospice, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
