Animal Outreach co-founder to lead forum

Judy Carman, a co-founder of the Lawrence-based Animal Outreach of Kansas, will lead a community forum from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Nov. 7 at Ecumenical Christian Ministries, 1204 Oread.

The forum is called “Religion and Animal Suffering: A Dialogue with Spiritual Leaders of Lawrence Regarding Mercy and Compassion for Animals.”

Carman is inviting the city’s spiritual leaders, as well as anyone who is interested in this topic, to attend the event.

The forum will be the same day as ECM’s weekly vegetarian lunch, which is from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursdays.

At 1 p.m. Nov. 7, Animal Outreach of Kansas will screen the award-winning documentary, “The Witness,” at ECM. The group has previously shown the film at the Lawrence Public Library and Liberty Hall, 642 Mass.

Members of Animal Outreach of Kansas use a portable TV and VCR to show a video called “Meet Your Meat,” about the factory farming industry, from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. Fridays at the corner of Eighth and Massachusetts streets.
