De Soto ? He was born Feb. 28, 1909, in Martinsville, Mo., the son of Charles and Martha (Glenn) Smith.

Mr. Smith was a farmer in Harrison County, Mo. He moved to DeSoto in 1952, where he worked for the Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant and as a maintenance man for Sunflower Village.

He married Jewell Tilley on April 17, 1930. She died earlier.

Survivors include a son, Roger, DeSoto; a daughter, Virginia Sims, DeSoto; two grandsons; and two great-grandsons.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. today at the chapel.
