Three injured in K-10 accident

A Kansas University student and a former student, both from Olathe, suffered severe injuries early Tuesday morning in a head-on collision with a semi-tractor trailer on Kansas Highway 10 just west of Eudora, officials said.

Both were taken by air ambulance to the KU Medical Center, in Kansas City, Kan.

The driver, Joshua I. Walton, 20, a sophomore, and the passenger, Ryan D. Galemore, 21, a former student, were both listed in critical condition.

The accident occured about 2 a.m. Tuesday, a quarter-mile west of Eudora, Douglas County Sheriff Rick Trapp said.

A semi-tractor trailer struck the student’s car, a 1998 maroon Toyota Corolla four-door, head-on in the westbound lanes of K-10, Trapp said.

The semi-tractor trailer was traveling the wrong way on the westbound side of K-10, Trapp said.

The truck driver, Horace A. Jordan, 51, Topeka, was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital by ambulance, where he was treated and released.

The westbound lanes of K-10 were closed for several hours. One westbound lane was opened after 8 a.m.

Trapp said he didn’t know why the truck was in the wrong lane.

The truck Jordan was driving is owned by Riverside Transport Inc., Riverside, Mo.
