Jayhawks’ Brown breaks through

Kansas University sophomore Paige Brown went 3-0 in singles play during the weekend at the Hoosier Tennis Classic.

Kansas was paired with the University of Indiana in Sunday’s singles action. Brown defeated a Linda Tran, 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (5). Also Sunday, freshman Jamie Lang defeated Sophie Rychlik, 6-0, 6-1.

“Paige Brown had a breakthrough weekend,” KU coach Kilmeny Waterman said. “She won all her singles and played very well, beating the top player from Indiana. She’s really starting to believe in herself.”

KU went 5-5 in doubles and 6-11 in singles against Indiana, Iowa and Ohio State.
