Jayhawk cross country shines at Jamboree

Kansas University’s women’s cross country team placed third of 18 teams and the men placed fifth of 21 squads at Oklahoma State’s Cowboy Jamboree on Saturday.

The Jayhawk women tallied 106 points, finishing behind Southwest Missouri State (57) and Georgetown (50). KU junior Laura Lavoie placed second in the 5K race in 17:52. KU’s Megan Manthe placed seventh and Paige Higgins 10th.

No. 2-ranked Arkansas won the men’s 8K race with 31 points. KU tallied 184.

KU sophomore Chris Jones placed 12th in 24:48, and Mark Menefee notched 17th.
