Atchison to feature ‘Haunted Homes Tour’

Atchison Those looking for a spook-filled outing this Halloween season will want to experience the “Haunted Homes Tour” offered nightly from Oct. 18 to Oct. 31.

During the 50-minute tour aboard the Atchison Trolley, passengers will be treated to tales that have earned Atchison the title of “the most haunted town in Kansas” in Lisa Heitz’s 1997 book, “Haunted Kansas.”

On weeknights, tours will begin at 6 p.m., 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. at Santa Fe Depot, 200 S. 10th Street. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, tours board at 6 p.m., 7 p.m., 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. On Halloween night, tours begin at 9 p.m., 10 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.

Tickets are $5 for all ages. Children 3 and under are free when they sit on an adult’s lap). Children ages 12 and under will receive a bag of treats.

Kurtis to open gallery in Sedan

Bill Kurtis will be host at 9 a.m. Saturday to the grand opening of the Art of the Prairie gallery in Sedan.

Lawrence resident Stan Herd, the gallery’s artist in residence, will show the first series of his upcoming 24 exclusive paintings. Other regional artists will present their works at the grand opening.
