Herman Eugene Meyer

Services for Herman Eugene Meyer, 77, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Lawrence Funeral Chapel. Burial with military honors will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Meyer died Oct. 2, 2002, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born April 8, 1925, in Waverly, the son of Herman R. and Mabel (Hatton) Meyer.

Mr. Meyer was in the U.S. Navy from Sept. 15, 1943, to Dec. 29, 1945. He served aboard the USS Intrepid. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Eagles Lodge. He was a Teamster truck driver for W.A. Dunbar for 12 years before he retired in 1988. He had previously worked for 20 years as a maintenance mechanic for Lawrence Paper Co.

He married Juanita M. Hartman. They later divorced. He then married Pauline Plitsch. They later divorced.

Survivors include three sons, Larry E., Gary D., and Dennis W., all of Lawrence; a sister, Laura Mae Mason, Colorado Springs, Colo.; and three grandchildren.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, where family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.
