Virginia L. Robrahn
Ottawa ? Services for Virginia L. Robrahn, 76, Ottawa, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Ottawa. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Graceland Cemetery in Burlington.
Mrs. Robrahn died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002, at Golden Heights Living Center in Garnett.
She was born July 13, 1926, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Frank Hunter and Berva Elma (Willis) Harvey. She grew up in the Kansas City area and graduated from Paseo High School in 1943. She received a bachelor’s degree of education from Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia with a major in biology and a minor in social science.
Mrs. Robrahn lived in Burlington from 1947 to 1960. She moved to Kansas City, Kan., in 1960, where she taught at Turner Elementary School until 1968. In 1968 she moved to Ottawa, where she taught at Ottawa Junior High School and later at Ottawa High School. She taught biology, science, American history and American government there until in 1977. She was a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. for two years, then became an income maintenance worker for Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services in 1980. She worked in the Ottawa SRS office from 1980 until her retirement in 1988.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Ottawa, where she participated in Outreach Circle and United Methodist Women. She was also a longtime member of PEO Sisterhood, where her current membership was in Chapter CY in Kansas City, Kan.
She married Vance Max Robrahn on Feb. 14, 1947, in Burlington. He survives of the home.
Other survivors include two daughters, Vanessa J. Palmer, Kincaid, and Vanncele J. Pearson, Lecompton; a sister, Barbara J. Hart, Altamonte Springs, Fla.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
An infant son, Vance Max Robrahn II, died June 18, 1955.
Friends may call after 8:30 a.m. Friday at Lamb-Roberts-Heise Funeral Home in Ottawa, where family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday.
