Kansas Ruggers Win: Angus Morford scored two tries and Kyle Ricketts one as the Kansas Rugby Club tripped the Omaha Goats, 22-15, last Saturday at Westwick. Matt Schwartz kicked two conversions and a drop goal.

Spray Streak Continues: Larry Spray of Lawrence remained unbeaten in the sport men ages 50 and over division of the Midwest Fat Tire bicycle series by winning last Saturday’s event at Trenton, Mo. Spray has won all 14 races in this year’s series. Also, Lawrence’s Jennifer Tilley won the expert women’s division.

Conroy Sizzles: Randy Conroy fired a 4-under-par 68 and won last Saturday’s Jayhawk Golf Club tournament at Alvamar by four strokes over Brent Mertz, who fired a par 72. Mike Grosdidier was third with a 75. In net, Glenn Holden was low with a 65, followed by Mike Hertling 69 and Kevin Walton 71.

Heitzman Record: Paul Heitzman of Eudora won the ages 70-74 division of the Hurricane Run 8K last Saturday in Tulsa. Heitzman’s time of 34:29 was an Oklahoma age-group record for 71-year-olds.

New Tennis Court: Sport 2 Sport’s new indoor tennis court will be available to the public without charge from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekdays through Oct. 11. For a reservation, call 843-4263.

Fishing Champs: Brian Kingsley and Tony Sutton combined to win last Sunday’s Lawrence Fishing and Outdoor Club tournament at Melvern Lake. John Laddusaw and Nate Cunningham finished second. David Berkowitz caught the largest bass at 18 1/4 inches.

Clinton 5K: Clinton Township fire department auxiliary’s open 5K and mile fun walk is scheduled for Oct. 26 at Bloomington beach at Clinton Lake. Pre-registration deadline is Oct. 11. For information, call Mike Fangman at 748-9847.

Strikers Tie Twice: Lawrence Strikers U-18 soccer team tied two games in Kansas Cup competition last weekend in Lawrence. After tying Lady Ajax, 0-0, the Strikers tied KVF, 1-1. Elizabeth Winter scored on assist from Rebekah Berkley in the second game.
