Pauline Mellies, chaplain, conducted a memorial service for two deceased members.

Members Hilde Farley, Fay Talley and Annie Merriam, regent, presented veterans in the Eudora Nursing Home and Lakeside Manor in Lawrence with patriotic-colored vases on Veterans Day. Each vase contained a small American flag, a thank-you card and carnations that had been donated by Dillons.

The University Bridge Club announces winners of its Nov. 23 game, for which Dale and Wanda Kring were hosts.

The pink winners were: Alice Akins, first; Hazel Stellmacher, second; Dottie Miller, third; Willie Stoltenberg; fourth; and Betty Lukens, fifth.

The blue winners were Florence McNicoll, first; Don Whitaker, second; Hank Miller, third; Marian Davis, fourth; and Horace Nelson, fifth.

The Lawrence 299ers Duplicate Bridge Club met Nov. 20 for its weekly game. Six tables competed in a stratified game using a Mitchell movement. Don Brennaman directed the game. Playing North-South, Dorothy Arth and Frances Vogel took first place in A and B. Alice Leitch and Karen Mills finished second in A and B. Everard Hughes and Kriz Hughes placed first in C. Sitting East-West, Olivier Urruty and Don Brennaman finished first in A. Judy Bevan and Bob Anderson took second in A and first in B.

The Lawrence TGIF Duplicate Bridge Club met Nov. 22 for its weekly game. The stratified game attracted seven tables, was directed by Don Brennaman and used a Mitchell movement.

Competing North-South, Olivier Urruty and Don Brennaman finished first in A and B. Shirley Vaughn and Virginia Eddy placed second in A. Yvonne Hedges and Betty Collier took third in A. Sitting East-West, Harry Shaffer and Jiambo Zhang took first in A. Dave Piro and Paul Heitzman placed second. Lois Clark and Chuck Hedges finished third in A and first in B and C. Mona Bell and Madelyn Jenks placed second in B and C.

The Lawrence Duplicate Bridge Club met Monday for its weekly game. Ten tables competed in a stratified game using a Mitchell movement. North-South winners were Harry Shaffer and Jim Gunn in A. Clyde Romer and Steve Phelps took second. Julia Brooks and Lester Dalton placed third. Jerry Sloan and Patt Radford placed fourth. Madelyn Jenks and Phyllis Brownlee took first in B and C. Olivier Urruty and Don Brennaman were second in B. Chuck Hedges and Kent McCullough claimed first in East-West. John Hickey and Jim Kelley took second. Virginia Seaver and Klee Zaricky placed third, followed by Paul Heitzman and Donna Johnson. Judy Bevan and Bob Anderson took first in B and C. Virginia Seaver directed the game.
