Rebels without Austin

? Mississippi State probably will be without junior center Mario Austin for at least one more game while the school waits to hear from the NCAA about his eligibility.

Additional information on Austin’s high school academic record was sent to the NCAA, the player’s attorney, Donald Jackson, said Wednesday. But the committee dealing with Austin’s case most likely won’t review the new documents right away.

“Probably, we’re in a situation where we won’t have any action by the NCAA until early next week, Monday at the earliest,” Jackson said.

Austin was held out of the team’s first two games after the NCAA determined that it mistakenly certified him to play as a freshman.

The NCAA has not ruled whether Austin should be eligible this season.
