Soto Leads Gymnasts: Max Soto raised the most money ($325) during a cartwheel-a-thon fund-raiser staged by the Lawrence Gymnastics Academy. Kara Kellison was the overall winner with 100 cartwheels in two minutes. Age-group winners were Sophia Coen, Rachael Schaffer, Dianna Torgerson and Ashley Sakumura.

  • Hitting Camp: John Cohen, assistant baseball coach at Florida University, will conduct a baseball hitting camp this weekend at Sport 2 Sport. For information, call Shane Wedd at 832-2202.

  • Erb Honored: Brian Erb, a Middlebury College junior from Lawrence, was the only football player named to the New England Small College Athletic Conference fall all-academic team. Honorees must have a GPA of 3.35 or higher. Only five men and five women were selected.
  • Wilson Snaps Own Mark: Lawrence’s Dick Wilson eclipsed his own state age-group record by running the Wichita Turkey Trot in 1:10:31 last weekend. Wilson, 70, set the previous record of 1:11:13 last April in Topeka. Wilson has set seven records in the 70-74 age group this year.
