Mary E. Olsen

? She was born Sept. 16, 1917, in Scott County, the daughter of Llewelyn and Fleda Mable (Shorman) Parry.

She was a graduate of Clay Center High School and taught school for six years. She was also a bookkeeper for Clay Center Freight Service. Mrs. Olsen then returned to school and received a bachelorâÂÂs degree in elementary education in 1967 from Kansas State University. She later received a masterâÂÂs degree in education from Emporia State University. She taught in Louisburg public schools from 1967 until her retirement in 1982.

Mrs. Olsen was a member of United Methodist Church in Clay Center and Louisburg and Louisburg Retired Teachers Assn.

She married Harold Christian Olsen on Dec. 26, 1942. He died Jan. 2, 1995.

Survivors include a son, Dennis Lee Olsen, Sapulpa, Okla.; four daughters, Shelia Ann Martinez, Olathe, Sherry Lynn Brun, Lawrence, Valerie JoAnn Smith, Baldwin, and Pamela Kay Oldham, Raytown, Mo.; a brother, Floyd Parry, Morganville; a sister, Doreen Grams-Kiecker, Fairfax, Minn.; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
