Vivian June Rutter

? She was born Jan. 27, 1915, in Arkansas City, the daughter of John Craig and Ida Pearl (Werther) Weir. She went to grade school in Hard Pan, Passaic, Mo., and Butler, Mo. She attended high school in Uniontown, Passaic and Geuda Springs, where she graduated. She then graduated from Arkansas City Junior College, where she earned a teaching certificate.

Mrs. Rutter taught in schools outside Arkansas City and Ashton. After moving to a farm outside Coffeyville in December 1950, she helped her husband operate a dairy and wheat farm and substitute taught at Clymore School in rural Coffeyville. She was active in Nozark class at First Christian Church and served as teacher in the womenâÂÂs circle. She worked on the rural election board, as a 4-H club adult leader and volunteered at Red Cross. She belonged to League of Women Voters and Clymore Sewing Circle.

She married Willis Rutter on April 25, 1937, in Arkansas City. He died Oct. 5, 2000.

Survivors include two daughters, Helen Cox, Ozark, Mo., and Joy Clumsky, Lawrence; a brother, John Weir, Geuda Springs; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
