LINCOLN, NEB. ? Nebraska coach Frank Solich has suspended place-kicker Josh Brown for Friday’s game against No. 13 Colorado.

The senior from Foyil, Okla., was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence early Sunday in Omaha. Brown also was suspended at the start of last season after he was convicted of misdemeanor assault.

Backup kicker Sandro DeAngelis is out for the season, leaving junior walk-on Dale Endorf as a possible replacement.

• Solich plans to name a new offensive coordinator next week, the Omaha World-Herald reported in its Tuesday editions. Citing an unnamed source, the newspaper reported that Solich planned to give up his play-calling duties.
• Colorado tailback Chris Brown is recuperating from a severely bruised sternum, and his status for Friday’s game is uncertain.
• Solich and Colorado coach Gary Barnett, along with the presidents of both universities, issued an open letter to fans Tuesday urging them to be good sports.
