City officials recommend the following to prevent water lines from freezing and breaking in cold weather:

⢠Disconnecting and draining outdoor hoses. Otherwise, a single hard, overnight freeze can burst either the faucet or the pipe itâÂÂs connected to.

⢠Sealing off cracks in basement windows.

⢠Leaving cabinet doors open under sinks.
