Harold C. Rubendall

? Services for Harold C. Rubendall, 79, Baldwin, will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church, Sublette. Burial will be at Valley View Cemetery, Garden City, with military honors by Garden City-area veterans.

Mr. Rubendall died Thursday, Nov. 21, 2002, at the Baldwin City Care Center.

He was born April 14, 1923, in Oberlin, the son of George Merrel and Ruby Irene (Vermillion) Rubendall. He attended schools in Oberlin until eighth grade, when he moved to Coldwater and graduated high school. After World War II, he moved to Garden City, where he lived until moving to Sublette in 1955. He had lived in Baldwin since 1998.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1944 to 1946 and flew 25 missions. He earned a Good Conduct Medal and the Air Medal with two oak leaf clusters and three battle stars.

Mr. Rubendall worked for Helmrich and Payne Gas Co. for 35 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge AF&AM in Sublette, Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion in Sublette and Garden City, and the National Rifle Assn.

He married Eva Mae Cronenberg on March 21, 1945, in Pueblo, Colo. She died July 4, 1978.

Survivors include a son, Darold, Shawnee area; two daughters, Shirley Messenger, Grove, Okla., and Judy Dunn, Baldwin; one brother, Donnie, Indiana; one sister, Phyllis Fisher, Alva, Okla.; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City.
