The University Bridge Club announces winners of its Nov. 16 game, for which Freddie and Horace Nelson were hosts.

The pink winners were Willie Stoltenberg, first; Cathy Waller, second; Wanda Kring, third; Marian Davis, fourth; and Bette Lukens, fifth.

The blue winners were Paul Jordan, first; Howard Stolenberg, second; Leo Langlois, third; Tom Waller, fourth; and George Bocquin, fifth.

The North-East Kansas Unit of the American Contract Bridge League was host for a Sectional Bridge Tournament Nov. 8-10 at the Lawrence Holidome. There were 334 players, representing six states, who participated in the three-day competition.

Eldon Herd served as tournament chairman with assistance from Mike Montgomery and Don Brennaman. Glenna Herd and Frances Vogel served as partnership chairwomen while Bobbie Figgins served at the welcome desk. Harriett Olson organized the teams of caddies for the tournament. Chris Lane and her volunteers handled the hospitality.

The local bridge players were plentiful and did well as the tournament commenced with Knock Out teams competing all day. Local teams won the second and third brackets.

Bracket 2 winners were James Gunn, Harry Shaffer, Kent McCullough and Larry Bodle. Bracket 3 winners were Chuck Hedges, Yvonne Hedges, Shirley Reese and Betty Collier. Coming in second was the team of Don Bush, Robert Huffman, Lyle Ogden and Bob Bradley.

The Friday afternoon Open Pairs competition had Jeffrey Nash and Jeffrey Rees placing second in the B session, followed by John Hickey and Patt Radford in sixth.

The 99er Pairs competition ended in a three-way tie for first. The winners were Barbara Hamilton and Carol Ball; Adeline Towle and Gladys Dixon; and Pattie Griffitts and Shari Krentzel. Amit Chakrabarti and Mory Mort placed second in the Open Pairs B session Friday evening, followed by Chris Lane and Ann Hamilton in fifth and Jeffrey Nash and Jeffrey Rees in sixth. The 99er Pairs competition was won by Alice Leitch and Kay Sloan, followed by Don Daugherty and Harry Talley. Third place went to Judy Bevan and Robert Anderson, followed by Harriett Olson and Artie Shaw.

The Saturday games started with a morning Zip Swiss game that was won by Olivier Urruty and Don Brennaman.

The special game of North American Open Pairs competition had local C session winners with Robert Huffman and Don Bush placing third, followed by Madelyn Jenks and Phyllis Brownlee in fourth and Sally Taylor and Klee Zaricky in fifth.

The Saturday afternoon regular Open Pairs, C strata, was won by Clyde Romer and Steven Phelps. Anna DeThomas and Ruth Wilkins placed fourth. The 99er Pairs competition was won by Frances Vogel and Carol Ball with Adeline Towle and Gladys Dixon placing fourth. The Saturday evening 99er Pairs competition again was won by Frances Vogel and Carol Ball.

The Sunday Swiss Team games started at 10 a.m. and were completed by 6 p.m. Several local teams competed in the Flight BCD Swiss competition. The team of Eldon Herd, Glenna Herd, Mike Montgomery and Rhonda Montgomery placed third overall and won the C and D competition. The team of Shirley Reese, Chris Lane, Sally Taylor and Klee Zaricky placed second in C. Fourth place in C went to Elizabeth Gilman, Janice Brown, Bob Bradley and Lyle Ogden. Fourth in D went to Mary Treece, Carol Ball, Gary Joyce and Mary Phillips. The Sunday 99er Swiss Team games, both morning and afternoon, were won by the team of Bill Hamilton, Barbara Hamilton, Robert Huffman and Helen Huffman.

The Lawrence 299ers Duplicate Bridge Club met Nov. 13 for its weekly game and quarterly club championship. The game attracted six tables, was stratified and used a Mitchell movement. Don Brennaman directed the game.

Sitting North-South, Frances Vogel and Dorothy Arth finished first in A and B. Harry Talley and Don Daugherty placed second in B. Playing East-West, Helen Huffman and Bob Huffman finished first in A and B. Bob Anderson and Judy Bevan were second in A and B. Jo Abbott and Lynn Hui took first in C.

The Lawrence TGIF Duplicate Bridge Club met Nov. 15 for its weekly game. Five and a half tables participated in a stratified game using a Howell movement. Jim Gunn and Harry Shaffer finished first in A. They were followed by Clyde Romer and Kent McCullough, then Virginia Seaver and Shirley Vaughn. Betty Collier and Lois Clark placed first in B and C. Chuck Hedges and Yvonne Hedges finished second in B. Don Brennaman directed the game.

The Lawrence Duplicate Bridge Club met Monday for its weekly game. Eleven tables competed in a stratified game using a Mitchell movement. Virginia Seaver directed the game.

Vince Russo and Terry Tolar, playing North-South, finished first in A. Yvonne Hedges and Betty Collier placed second in A and first in B. Jim Gunn and Harry Shaffer took third in A followed by Chuck Hedges and Kent McCullough. Olivier Urruty and Emily Foster finished first in C.

Sitting East-West, Patt Radford and John Hickey finished first in A. Mike Blumenfeld and Cathy Blumenfeld placed second in A and first in B and C. Christie Thomas and Dave Rhea took third in A, followed by Dave Piro and Donna Johnson. Judy Bevan and Bob Anderson finished second in B and C.
