Arthur H. Wolf

Memorial services for Arthur H. Wolf, 85, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Plymouth Congregational Church.

Mr. Wolf died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002, at Pioneer Ridge Retirement Community.

He was born June 11, 1917, in Topeka, the son of Harry and Ruth (Hamlin) Wolf. He graduated from Topeka High School and received a bachelor of arts degree in economics from Kansas University in 1939. He spent a year and a half in law school at KU.

He worked at Boeing Co. in Wichita and as a field service engineer with the U.S. Air Force. He moved to Lawrence in June 1947 and co-founded Centron Corp. to produce educational, government and industrial motion pictures.

Mr. Wolf was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church. He was a member of the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce, past president of Aviation Committee and represented Chamber on the Kaw Valley Development Company with Topeka, Manhattan and other communities. He was active in the State Chamber of Commerce. He had been a member of the Lawrence Rotary Club since 1948. He served as part-time instructor at the KU School of Journalism from 1983 to 1988.

He married Catherine Gurtler on July 13, 1984, in Lawrence. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include two daughters, Felicia Owens, Reno, Nev., and Mindy Small, Castle Rock, Colo.; a son, Grant, Houston; a stepdaughter, Jean Gurtler Turvey, Halstead; 10 grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to Hospice Care of Douglas County, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
